He is also a distinguished Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and an Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Howard University, in Washington D.C. Mr. Wallen is skilled in multivariable, multi-objective partitioned risk analysis which he learned at the Center for Risk Management at the University of Virginia.

Mr. Wallen is a member of the Science & Technology Section of the American Bar Association, and former liaison for the Disaster Committee, specifically focusing on physio-cyber security. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property and Technology Section of the Virginia Bar Association.
